Silver Bow Publishing has released a collection of poetry from the widely published poet, L. Ward Abel, entitled Green Shoulders: New and Selected Poems 2003–2023. As the title shows, this book is the culmination of twenty years of writing by the author, and includes work specifically chosen by him from his three full collections and ten chapbooks of poetry, plus new poems recently composed. His work has been described as “akin to the plain-speaking, sublime poetry of Wendell Berry or Ted Kooser” (Corey Mesler, author of Memphis Movie), “alive with an ancient presence…[Abel] drifts like Whitman beyond the particular into songs” (David Herrle, author of Abyssinia), and “[t]here’s a shimmer, light and shadow where the obvious might have been thrust at us [in] a language [that] is his own” (Beverly Jackson, author of Every Burning Thing). A musician/composer, retired teacher of literature and lawyer, Abel lives in rural Georgia.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM WARD ABEL.

My new book of poetry, including work from over 20 years of writing, plus almost forty pages of new poems, is entitled GREEN SHOULDERS—New and Selected Poems 2003-2023. I’m so proud of this one, and if you’re a poetry lover do consider getting a copy.

Many sites worldwide carry it now including (Barnes & Noble,Thrift Books, Bookshop.org, many more), or better yet order one through your local independent bookstore.

I’ll also be selling some at my gigs around town too. Many thanks to Candice James and to Silver Bow publishing in new Westminster, BC, Canada. And thank y’all for reading
