ABOUT THE BOOK

Jeevan Bhagwat is the recipient of The Monica Ladell Prize for Poetry from the Scarborough Arts Council and the recipient of Scarborough’s Urban Hero Award for Arts & Culture. He is the co-facilitator of the Scarborough Poetry Club. His books include The Weight of Dreams (IN Publications, 2012) and Luminescence (IN Publications, 2020)

The Radha Poems is a deeply personal account of the the author’s own journey across the topography of grief after the passing of his mother. The poems explore grief from a multifaceted perspective and take the reader on an emotional, philosophical and metaphysical exploration of the human condition when faced with a life altering scenario. There are sixty eight poems in total which are numbered using roman numerals. The poems are chronological and are representative of the author’s experience jn coming to terms with his mother’s passing. Most of the poems are written in free verse, but some rhyme and others have an irregular rhyme scheme to them.  This book will resonate with many readers because we all experience loss in one way or another and have to deal with it. How we do that often reflects our shared humanity.
